2012 Student Housing Project of the Year (Multi-Family Executive) // 2012 Best Amenity Design – United States (Student Housing Business innovator Awards) // Campus Circle is an eco-friendly, 679 bed, Student Housing project. At 15 units per acre, the community is walking distance to Florida State University. It was very important that the scale and placement of the buildings fit into the architectural character and lifestyle fabric of the surrounding neighborhood. The challenge was to conform to the city’s urban planning criteria. This was achieved by locating the buildings along the perimeter of Basin Street. Another huge challenge was to incorporate a 15 to 25-foot deep existing retention pond into the master plan so that it would add a positive quality to the community rather than have a negative impact. With careful planning and thoughtful detail, it was transformed into a 1.6-acre water feature. The collaboration of the owner, contractor, and design team lead to the project earning the National Green Building Standard Bronze level to create an eco-friendly community.
